Change for kids

The Change for Kids community works together to allow young people to see themselves in the future with unlimited options. CFK School Managers, in partnership with principals, teachers, and CFK leadership, identify the needs of each CFK partner school.

Together, we provide and manage a mix of resources, including leadership support; academic enrichment and engagement programs; volunteers; corporate sponsors; school community support; and custom programming. We provide critical supports, experiences, and access so kids in New York City public schools can reimagine their possibilities and overcome inequity.

With a mission to create opportunities for kids so they can overcome inequity, it’s critical for Change for Kids to be a place where our purpose and our practices are consistently hand-in-hand. We believe the future depends on it. That’s why our culture is defined primarily by being youthful, vibrant, inclusive, and committed to real change for kids.

At CFK, we are do-ers who are team players; we’re curious, thoughtful, deliberate, passionate, and determined. While we work hard, we are colleagues who care for each other and make each other laugh every day. We invite you to come have fun with us.

the OCEAN cleanup - BIG PROBLEMS REQUIRE BIG SOLUTIONS

Dutch inventor Boyan Slat founded The Ocean Cleanup at the age of 18 in his hometown of Delft, the Netherlands. The Ocean Cleanup's team consists of more than 80 engineers, researchers, scientists and computational modelers working daily to rid the world's oceans of plastic.

The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organization, developing advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. By utilizing the ocean currents to our advantage, our passive drifting systems are estimated to clean up half the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 5 years’ time.

Environment, Economy & Health - Plastic pollution in the world's oceans is one of the biggest environmental issues of our time, impacting more than 600 marine species. According to the United Nations, plastic pollution is conservatively estimated to have a yearly financial damage of 13 billion USD. The costs stem from the plastic’s impact on marine life, tourism, fisheries and businesses. Plastic pollution does not only impact sea life, it also carries toxic pollutants into the food chain – a food chain including us humans. Learn, Support, Share, Donate at http://theoceancleanup.com/

4 OCEAN

Support & Donate buy getting a recycled 4 Ocean Bracelet. Each product purchased removes trash from the ocean and coastlines one pound at a time. https://4ocean.com/our-products/

The story begins when Alex and Andrew take a surf trip to Bali Indonesia that would inevitably change their lives and the fate of the ocean. Devastated by the amount of plastic in the ocean, they set out to find out why no one was doing anything about it. One afternoon they came across an old fishing village where fishermen were literally pushing their boat through piles of plastic that had washed up on shore. The two surfers realized that the proliferation of plastic threatened both the ocean environment and the fishermen's livelihood. Could the fishermen use their nets, they wondered, to pull the plastic from the ocean? This idea stuck with the 2 surfers and they knew it was time to hit the drawing board. After realizing that the demand for seafood was driving the fishermen to focus on fish instead of plastic, they knew they had to create something that could fund the desired cleanup efforts. This is how the 4ocean Bracelet was born.

Made with recycled materials, every bracelet purchased funds the removal of 1 pound of trash from the ocean and coastlines. In less than 2 years, 4ocean has removed 5,455,500 pounds of trash from the ocean and coastlines.

4ocean currently operates out of multiple countries and employs over 150 people worldwide.
